William was tried and convicted at Dublin Court Martial in 1832 of "Desertion" and sentenced to 14 years transportation

William arrived Sydney aged 25 aboard Roslin Castle on 5 February 1833?with his Indent showing trade as "soldier".

William along with John Thompson alias Clarke were convicted in Bathurst of bushranging "steal from a dwelling and place residents in fear" on 26 February 1834. Source; Sydney Moniter 14 May 1834 p2
