| Description: | The Waratah is considered the most beautiful indigenous flower of Australia and features as a logo in many New South Wales-based organisations. Bilpin Waratah Farm was established in 1993 for the express purpose of producing and selling only the finest quality Waratahs (telopea speciosissima). We have several varieties including the rare Wirrimbirra White. Our farm is situated at Bilpin in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, the Waratah’s natural habitat. We have approximately 2,500 flower producing plants.
Waratah's are a protected species and should never be picked in the wild. 'Preservation by cultivation' is the catch-cry of waratah lovers everywhere. Renewed interest in the waratah is highlighted by the revival of the Waratah Festival held in the Hawkesbury each year during September/October. The plantation grown blooms are far superior to the bush variety and have a vase life of up to 14 days. Flowering time is between September and October each year. OPEN FARM DAY: Sunday 5th October. Tours by appointment only. |
