Biographies

Rhichard was born in 1815 in Mancetter Warwickshire England. His parents were Thomas and
Hannah. He married Sarah Shaw in 1836 and they had two sons together. William and Ambrose.
Richard was charged with Assult and Robbery, later changed to Receiving Stolen Goods.
He was tried at Warwick Assizes, on 25/03/1840 and was given a sentence of Ten Years. He was to be Transported to VDL to serve his sentence on the other side of the world.
He sailed on the 6/04/1841 Aboard the Layton 4, one of 250 convicts.
He was assigned to the Rocky Hill probation station.
He married Mary Ward 28/07/1848, he was 32 she was 45.
He was granted a Ticket of Leave in 1847 and also 1849.
