Biographies

Joseph Penn was born roughly 1892, he married Harriett Hobbs in 1834 and had five children with her, a couple of them dying young. He also had a mistress, Prudence Hughes with whom he also had another five children, again a couple of them dying young. In Sedgley on the evening of the 23rd September Penn and Hughes had been out drinking. In the early morning of 24th Sept 1844 he struck her multiple times while she was 6 months pregnant, she haemorrhage and bled to death in the Jolly Crispin Pub. The article contains a false death report for Joseph Penn who claims he died in 1846 when in fact he died in Salt Water River Hospital on the Tasman peninsular aged 62 from dementia. Penn was Transported on the Theresa, she Sailed on 28th March ,with 220 Passengers, 1845 from London. Arriving on 3rd July 1845 in Van Diemen's Land, a 93 day journey.
