William was convicted at Devon Quarter Sessions on 16 October 1849 and sentenced to 10 years transportation, he arrived West Australia aboard Pyrenees on 30 April 1853.

William and Bridget Hurford (a free settler) were convicted on 4 October 1855 of murder John Hurford (Bridget's husband) in Vasse District and sentenced to death.
