Peter was convicted at Glasgow Court of Justiciary on 22 September 1823 and sentenced to life transportation, he arrived Tasmania aboard Phoenix on 21 July 1824.

Peter was convicted on 22 December 1826 of shooting with intent to murder John Swift and sentenced to death.
