Biographies

Jew Boys Bushrangers; this group stole and terrorised people as they moved about in areas west of Newcastle (Maitland, Scone Dungog etc) till their actions led to the shooting murder of a shopkeeper John Graham at Scone on 21 December 1840. John was a member of the gang along with George Wilkinson alias Edward Davis "Camden 1833", Robert Chitty "Sophia 1829", James Everett "Mangles 1833", John Shea "Calcutta 1837" & Richard Glanvilleb"Lord Lyndock 1838". Authorities quickly formed and chased down the gang till they were all captured and bought to trial at Supreme Court on 24 February 1841. All err charged with bush ranging with Shea charged murder the others aid abet murder. All six were convicted and sentenced to death and hanged on 16 March 1841 in Sydney. John arrived Sydney aged about 19 aboard Clyde on 27 August 1832 with his Indent showing trade "shepherd". A nickname would later be related to him" Wee Harbour Jack"
