Walter was born about 1804 Tipperary Ireland and was convicted at Corfu Court Martial in 1831 of mutiny and sentenced to life transportation

Walter arrived Sydney aged 28 aboard planter on 15 February 1832 with his Indent showing alias " Bourke" and trade "soldier".

Walter together with Glinny, Bell, Butler, Douglas, Drummond & Snell were hanged on 22 September 1834 at Norfolk Island (the other six were hanged the next day)
