Robert was convicted at Glasgow Court of Justiciary on 4 January 1831 and sentenced to 14 years transportation, he arrived Tasmania aboard Larkins on 19 October 1831

Robert was convicted at Launceston on 21 October 1833 of "sticking and wounding" and sentenced to death.
