John Cord was born 17th April 1812 in the St James area of Westminster London England, he was 1 of 5 brothers, 3 of which ended up as convicts and sent to Australia, he was first tried for Larceny in September 1831 at the Old Bailey and found Not Guilty, in October 1831 was found Guilty of Larceny at Westminster Court and sentenced to 7 Years Transportation,
Departed on the convict ship "Portland" 19th November 1831 and Arrived Sydney Cove NSW on the 26th March 1832.Was granted a Certificate of Freedom on the 30th July 1839
