I am not a descendant of Ann Beard, I am a researcher who found this information and thought to share it.

ANN BEARD was convicted at the Old Bailey, Middlesex and held at Newgate gaol. Court date: 4 March 1839. Crime: Theft; pocket-picking: stealing monies, value 15 s. of Thomas Marks from his person. (for stealing,5 half-crowns, 2 shillings, and 2 sixpences, the monies of Thomas Marks, from his person.). Ann aged 33 years, a spinster, was transported for ten (10) years.

The transport ship ‘Hindostan’ departed: 6th May 1839 and arrived at VA Diemen’s Land, on 14 January 1839.

Born 1806, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Height 5' 0.5". Hair brown (dark brown). Eyes hazel. Distinguishing marks pitted pockmarked (pockmarked slightly). Has tattoo number. First recorded 1839.

TASMANIA: absconded eight (8) times between December 9th 1839 and 28th October 1842.
Applied to marry James Humphries in September 1843. Marriage date 14 October 1843, Hobart, Tasmania. ________________________________________
