Biographies

John William Wilkins was born in Middlesex, England, in 1833. His occupation was a rope maker.

In 1850 at age 17, he and a John Fisher, were caught stealing a coat valued at 7 shillings. They were placed in Newgate prison, before being sentenced to 7 years transportation to Van Diemen's Land.
He boarded the ship ‘St.Vincent’ in January 1853, and arrived in Van Diemens Land on the 26 May.

John passed away in 1901, aged 63 years, and buried at the Cypress Street Anglican Cemetery, Launceston, Tasmania.
