John was born about 1790 Warwick and was convicted at Warwick Assizes on 25 July 1812 and sentenced to life transportation

John arrived Sydney aged about 23 aboard Earl Spencer on 9 October 1813. Note there is evidence suggesting alias "Witeman".

John was convicted on 18 August 1821 of highway robbery on dwelling of Charles Franklin & Robert Allen and sentenced to death.
