Biographies

Catherine Blakeney (nee Lawn), was born in 1802 in Armagh, Northern Ireland. She married John Blakeney in 1827 and had one child together.
Catherine lived in Lancaster, England in 1825 where she was convicted of larceny from a person and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
Catherine and her husband were convicted of larceny on 15th January 1827. Her police number was 114 and convict ID 9995. They were both transported to Australia for 7 years.
Catherine departed on the Persian on the 10th April 1827 and arrived in Tasmania on the 5th August 1827.

In September 1832, Catherine made an application to marry Philip Pembery (also a convict). They married in 1832.
They had a daughter, Sarah born on 5th march 1833 in Launceston Tasmania and Mary Anne born on 27th October 1834.
Catherine died in Mt Gambier, South Australia and was buried on a property in Gray St. Gambier Town.
Catherine features in a book called "Notorious Strumpets and Dangerous Girls" by Phillip Jardif.
Catherine was freed by servitude on the 15th January 1834.
