Arthur was convicted at Sussex Quarter Sessions on 14 January 1820 and sentenced to 7 years transportation, he arrived Tasmania aboard Juliana on 28 December 1820.

Arthur was convicted in September 1824 at Hobart of kill steer with intent to steal part car us and entrenched to death.
