Robert was convicted at Surrey Assizes on 28 March 1836 and sentenced to life transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard John on 7 February 1837

Robert was convicted in October 1841 of murder with an axe Dean West (Lady MacNaghten) on 15 September 1841 and was sentenced to death.
