Biographies

John Hill escaped from the Hereford County Gaol on 26th February and 27th May 1786. He was originally sentenced to death in March 1785 for: 'Obtaining under false pretences, a brown mare belonging to John Hall and a silver watch, the property of Thomas Griffiths'. This was commuted to 14 years' transportation.
