Crime: Larceny. Stealing hay from John Bartlett. Tried with John Pratten.
Trial place: Somerset England.
Convicted: 28 March 1836 Somerset Assizes England.
Sentence: Seven years. Transported.
Prior conviction: Larceny. In 1833 he stole cheese, bacon and snuff from James Ford.
Sentence for previous conviction: Luke spent two months in the Wilton Prison and was whipped for the offence.
Departed England: 14 July 1836.
Arrived in Van Diemen's Land: 15 November 1836.

Native place: Frome, Somerset England.
Occupation: Labourer, Farm Labourer, Farm Overseer of Convicts, Carpenter.
Born: 31 October 1816 in Frome, Somerset, England.
Baptised: 6 July 1817 in the Frome Zion Chapel in Selwood.
Parents: Thomas Provis and Mary Richards.
Siblings: Twin brother John also Mark and Mathew who were twins as well and brother Thomas.
Married: Eleanor Brown, a convict who was the widow of convict Lawrence Kavanagh. The marriage took place in Sorell, Tasmania.
Children: None.
Died: Unknown at this stage, I'm still researching.
Last know whereabouts: Sorell, Tasmania in 1851 when he worked as an overseer of convicts on the Vigar farm at Pitt Water (Sorell).
