"Obituary
An old Hawkesbury district native passed away in Windsor Hospital, after a brief illness on the 16th instant, in the person of John Jones who for the past seven or eight years has been residing with his brother, Mr Robert Jones, of Forrester. The deceased was a son of the late John Jones, was born at Cattai, and would have been 77 years of age on 20th September next. He married Charlotte Stubbs, a member of another old Hawkesbury family, and close on 50 years ago (in the "seventies") he left this district and settled at Coonabarabran, About 1890 he removed to Walgett, and between seven and eight years ago came back to his native district. During his sojourn away from the Hawkesbury he was engaged in sheep farming. The late Mr Jones was a man of quiet and unassuming disposition and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a man of strong and healthy constitution, and till within a week or two of his death was scarcely ever ill. His brothers and sisters are all well-known in this district. They are:—Mr. Robert Jones, of Forrester; Jane (Mrs. Child, of East Sydney); Ann (Mrs. Strange, of Darlington); Mr. David Jones of George Street, Windsor; Elizabeth (Mrs Kalucy, of East Sydney); Mr. George Jones, of Cattai; Adeline (Mrs. R Smith, of Sydney). The family of the subject of this notice were:—Herbert (born in Windsor), now residing at Walgett; Martin, Enoch, Mrs Cunnard (who had two sons killed at the war), Mrs. Hunt, Mrs. Apricoull. and John, all of whom reside in or around Coonabarabran. There are about 30 grandchildren and about 15 great grandchildren. Besides the two grandchildren who were killed, two others did their bit in the Great War-Herbert and Charles Jones. The funeral took place on the l8th instant, the remains being interred in the Pitt Town cemetery. Rev. G. P. Birk officiated at the service."
