Samuel Joseph Oakley was the son of James Oakley (1772-1831) and Sarah White (1771-1831).
DOB 1818 Shropshire England. Baptised 25/10/1818 Worcester England.
Occupation: Collier
Trial Worcestershire England 20/7/1844. Convicted for stealing silver box with necklace in it. Sentenced to 15years. Sent to Van Diemens Land (VDL) 28/7/1845 aboard the ship 'Hyderebad'. Arriving 19/2/1845.
Given Certificate of Freedom 1858.
Married Margaret Mary Ormond 12/2/1858 in Campbelltown Tasmania. Reg.No. 32/1858.
