Biographies

A Connaught boy, christened William Brophy, but better known by the cognomen of "Goosey," from the cir-cumstance of his having confined a goose in the watch house (when he was attached to the constabulary).

William appears to have been un the constabulary around 1837/8.

Mary White who arrived on the Duchess of Northumberland, a free woman and lived in a defacto relationship with William Brophy.

William and Mary had two children, Michael and Margaret.

William and Mary seperated around 1845 and Mary went on to marry John Callinan in Maitland in 1846. They had three children Catherine, John and Mary Jane.

It is not known what happened to William.
