Biographies

Born about 1803, and serving as a bootmaker in the Army,29 year old Joseph went to Jamaica. There is not much clarity of his marital status at this time, varying reports of marriage in Northampton, England, to a Susanna Clark but unable to prove conclusively. He was convicted of shooting at his wife, girlfriend, when finding her in bed with another man. I feel sure he would not have been able to bring his wife from the UK to Jamaica with him. He was transported in 1838. He went on to marry another convict called Ann French, or Lafferty in Australia. There is a burial record for a Margaret Timms, married to Private Joseph Timms in Jamaica, but have been unable to verify this at all.
