Biographies

The parents of my biological Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather Joseph Thomas Abberfield were Joseph Habberfield (parents unknown) who was born in 1808 in England and Louisa Schofield (parents unknown) born on the 14th of August 1828 in Hexham Newcastle NSW.

It would not have been considered a scandalous occurrence in the 18th century when Louisa Schofield who was just thirteen years old gave birth to my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather Joseph Thomas Abberfield in 1848.

Besides Joseph Thomas, Joseph and Louisa had three daughters Mary Ann (1849 – 1931), Margaret (1854) and Louisa (1854 – 1943).

Louisa Schofield’s parents were James Schofield (1st) (1796 – 1855) and Janet Louisa Angus AKA Jennett Angis born in Perthshire Scotland on the 19th September 1802 and died on the 1st of December 1848 in Maitland NSW.

Janet Louisa Angus was convicted on the 16th of April 1824 and sentenced to transportation for life. She departed Scotland on board the vessel “Midas” on the 22nd of July 1825 bound for Van Diemen’s Land in the colony of NSW Australia.

She arrived in Sydney Cove in 1825.
On the 19th of November Janet Louisa and James Schofield submitted an application to marry. They were married the very next day on the 20th of November 1828. Janet would be pardoned in 1838.
