Mathew was born 1804 Cavan County Ireland and convicted at Cavan in 1829 of "steal pig" and sentenced to 7 years transportation.

Mathew arrived Sydney aboard James Pattison 20 Jan 1830 and is later gained his Certificate of Freedom 37/0480 dated 10 June 1837

James noted F/S (Free by Servitude) was convicted 13 May 1841 of murder Michael Sullivan September 1840 in the Illawarra Area and sentenced to death.
