Biographies

Bernard McGowan arrived 1830 on ship "Marquis of Huntley.Born Glasgow,Age 18.Single,Crime house stealing,14 years.Assigned to Mr.Hook at Dungog.Bernard received 50 lashes in 1833 for disobedience of orders.
Bernard applied for Ticket of leave in 1837.He received Certificate of freedom 1844.Bernard married Jane Baker 1852 at Maitland,they had 11 children.Bernard died 1876 at Mudgee.Jane died 1910 Mudgee.
