    Fusing history, genealogy and drama this documentary reveals stories of some of the 25,000 women, mostly Irish, who were transported during 1787-1853.

DR REX STUBBS OAM MEMORIAL ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP – now open

The Dr Rex Stubbs OAM Memorial Annual Scholarship is now open for 2015 with entries closing 31 August. Is available to residents of the Hawkesbury Local Government Area as well as members of historical groups from within the LGA including the Hawkesbury Family History Group and Museum, Gallery and Library volunteers. To enter, write why you would like to attend the Royal Australian Historical Society (RAHS) state conference and why you would like a two year membership to the RAHS. The state conference will be held at the Bankstown Sports Club on Saturday, 24 and Sunday, 25 October 2015. Using any media, express why the history of the Hawkesbury is important to you, or why an aspect of Hawkesbury’s history is of interest to you. Entries may be in writing, an artwork or a digital presentation. Further details and an entry form are available from Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au in the Services tab under Awards and Scholarships or search Dr Rex Stubbs. Alternatively, brochures with all details and an entry form may be collected from Council’s Administration Building; Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor; Richmond Branch Library; Hawkesbury Regional Museum; Hawkesbury Regional Gallery or the Hawkesbury Visitor Centre. FREE IMMIGRATION 1845-68 NSW TALK

Gail Davis will be speaking at the Blue Mountains Family History Society Seminar about free immigration 1845-68 on 15 August at Presbyterian Church Hall, Macquaire Road, Springwood. Her talk will include records on bounty and sponsored immigrants and those that paid their own way.
