DR REX STUBBS OAM COMMEMORATIVE HISTORY SYMPOSIUM

On Saturday 3 September 2016 the above event will be held. Former Hawkesbury mayor, Dr Rex Stubbs OAM, was well known for his support of the arts generally and for his love of history in particular. On his death after a long illness, Council resolved to remember his contribution by funding an annual activity named after him and promoting the study and appreciation of local history. This took the form of a scholarship until 2015, when a review was undertaken and will now take place in the form of a symposium. Members of all Hawkesbury LGA historical societies and heritage related groups, have been invited to attend the inaugural Dr Rex Stubbs OAM Commemorative History Symposium on Saturday 3 September 2016 in the Tebbutt Room, Deerubbin Centre. There are three guest speakers including historian and tour guide Judith Dunne, Dolla Merrillees, Director of the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences and local historian, Tim Carroll.

It will be fully catered and will be free to delegates. The Hawkesbury Family History Group has a few places remaining, please see Michelle 4560-4466 or history@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au by 15 August, if you would like to attend.
