NEW DATING TOOL FOR FAMILY HISTORIANS

State Library of NSW is collaborating with Inside History magazine to present a new tool which will assist in dating your old family photographs. The website is expected to be launch early in 2017. http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/news/new-look-dater-does-detective-work-family-historians

EBENEZER CELEBRATES 207 YEARS

On this coming Saturday 11 June Ebenezer Church celebrates its 207th anniversary with a service at 2pm. Everyone is most welcome to attend. Afternoon tea will follow after the service.

WINDSOR UNITING (METHODIST) CHURCH CELEBRATES 140 YEARS

28 August The local Uniting Church is celebrating 140 years of the establishment of their current building with a special church service on Sunday 28 August. However Methodism began much earlier in the Hawkesbury and this will also be remembered. The Church is looking for any families that were connected to the Windsor Church as well as information and photographs.

NATIONAL HISTORY MONTH

National Family History Month (NFHM) is an initiative of the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations (AFFHO) to promote family history and in Australia. See http://familyhistorymonth.org.au/ for more info.

    Thursday 4 August 11am-12.30pm
    This session will cover everything you that you will need to know about certificates.

  • TOP 10 TIPS FOR FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCHERS
    Thursday 4 August 2pm-3pm
    Find out what the top family history tips are and how to avoid the pitfalls.

CLIMB YOUR FAMILY TREE - FAMILY HISTORY FRIDAYS

The State Library of NSW and the Society of Australian Genealogists are hosting a series of sessions for persons researching their family. Each Friday starting from 1 July through to the 29 July Family History Fridays will be on from 10am to 1pm. The short course will take you from starting your family history through to finding out all the details of your ancestors' lives.

Was your ancestor a convict? When did the family first arrive in Australia? Where did they come from? Learn how to find this information for yourself and all the tips and tricks in climbing your family tree. Presented in association with the Society of Australian Genealogists, this course will include a tour of the Society’s library.

Cost $150 for the five sessions.

SURFING THE INTERNET...SITES FOR FAMILY HISTORIANS

Members with internet access maybe interested in checking out the following interesting sites. Hawkesbury Library Service at Windsor and our branch at Richmond, provides free access to the internet for members. FREE wireless is also provided if you have your own device or laptop. The password changes daily and is available from the service desks.
