FAMILY HISTORY CLASS

  • Researching World War 1 soldiers - Tuesday 14 April 6.30-8.30pm
    Find out what resources are available to search for WW1 soldiers in this the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli. This is a FREE class and held Hawkesbury Library - phone 4560-4460 to book.

BOOK LAUNCH BLOOD REVENGE - MURDER ON THE HAWKESBURY

A book being launched at Hawkesbury Regional Museum in Windsor on Saturday, 28 March 2015, examines the first time that white men were held to account in a criminal court for killing Australian Aborigines. Titled Blood Revenge ‐ Murder on the Hawkesbury, it examines an incident that occurred in 1799, just 11 years after the New South Wales colony began and answers the disturbing question: Why were five men found guilty of killing two Aborigines – but never punished? The book will be introduced by Hawkesbury historian, Jan Barkley‐Jack, and launched by noted military and social historian, Professor Peter Stanley of UNSW Canberra. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing by the author on the day. Venue: Hawkesbury Regional Museum, 8 Baker Street, Windsor 2‐4 pm. Bookings essential 02 4560 4655 Cost: $5
