Sydney Wineries 2002 Bud Burst Festival

Last year, the Sydney wineries held their inaugural Bud Burst festival. Because of the excellent reception of the event, held at Vicary's Winery - Luddenham, this year the Association has decided to extend the Bud Burst Festival over several weeks from 14th -29th September, 2002. This will allow a number of events to be staged along the Sydney Wine Trail.

The festival will commence with a combined wineries event to be staged again at the Vicary's Winery, 1935 Northern Rd Luddenham on Sunday 15th September, 2002.

On display will be various wineries from the Sydney area including Gledswood, Tizzana, Mt Hunter, Vicary's, Camden Park, Nangarin Estate, Kirkham and others. At the event will also be supported by other producers, olive growers and craft stalls. The festival will also be supported by various councils of the region, MACROC, Hawkesbury Harvest and the University of Western Sydney. Along with the displays and tastings will be music by two bands, one playing Flaminco music in the winery whilst a Bush Band plays in Vicary's famous Woolshed. Lunch will be available in the Woolshed and amusement rides (Thomas the Tank Engine rides) will be running for the children.

With it's Bud Burst Festival, the Nepean Hawkesbury Wine and Grape-growers Association is celebrating the revival of Australia's oldest wine growing area and the growing number of new plantings in the region.

Other events being planned include:

• Sunday 15th September Budburst Wine Dinner - Tickets $45.00 pp must be pre-purchased (Limited Numbers). Three courses including wine of the region accompanied by classical and contempory music. 1pm start - Phone (02) 4773 4161 for full details and tickets.
• Saturday 14th -28th September "Art Burst in the Winery" at Tizzana Winery, Ebenezer - an exhibition of ceramic and fibre art created especially for the Bud Burst festival. Opening day (14th) will include tastings of Glenorie Estate and University of Western Sydney (Yarramundi Winery) wines.
• Saturday 28th September "Jazz at the Winery" - Hawkesbury Jazz group hosting lunch and jazz at Tizzana Winery
• Sunday 29th September National Petanque Championship's at Vickery's Winery - Luddenham
• Other events including the opening of a new cellar door to be advised
