Biographies

James Stynes was convicted at Naas, Kildare, Ireland in April 1801 of an unknown crime. He was sentenced to 7 years and ordered to be transported to Australia. He sailed on 29th November 1801 from Cork, Ireland on board the Hercules via Rio Cape. The voyage took 209 days. The Master of the ship was Luckyn Betts, the Surgeon J.J.W. Kunst. The ship was 406 tons and was built at Sheilds in 1801. The Hercules arrived at Sydney on 28th June, 1802 after a mutinous voyage.
