James was convicted at Westmeath Ireland in 1801 and sentenced to 7 years transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard Hercules on 26 June 1802.

James & John Lynch (Atlas) were convicted on 23 Sept 1803 of robbery dwelling Thomas Neal at Richmond 22 Feb 1803 & Richard Phelps at Hawkesbury on 24 Jul 1803 and sentenced to death.
