Biographies

My family tree research has confirmed James Leppard as my 3xGreat Grandfather. I have found court records from the Old Bailey confirming his conviction and sentence in 1834. His sentence is quoted as both Life and 7 years and the birth of his children would seem to confirm a 7 year sentence however there is some confusion as records (Sydney Gazette listing) also indicate he was granted a conditional pardon in 1848 (which also wouldn’t have allowed him to return to England & doesn’t fit with birth records - so more research is needed).
