Examine the resources on Trove, including newspapers and photographs, and the benefits for historical research. This is a FREE class to celebrate National Family History Month.

BOOK LAUNCH

Jan Barkley Jack has invited members to attend the launch of her latest book called "Toongabbie's Government Farm: an elusive vision for five Governors 1791-1824" The event will be held on Saturday 7 September 2013 and will be launched by Michael Flynn at Third Settlement Park (Edison Parade, Winston Hills) beside Toongabbie Creek on the site of the historic Toongabbie Government Farm. As part of 25th Birthday Celebrations for Toongabbie & District Historical Society(T&DHS). Starts at 10.30am in Palestine Park (Goliath Avenue, Winston Hills) with unveiling of a plaque marking the Listing of the Farm on the NSW State Heritage Register, then move to Third Settlement Park for entertainment and displays, followed by the Book Launch and sausage sizzle. The Book is of special interest to descendants of convicts from the Third Fleet and later ships who originally were sent to the Toongabbie Government Farm. There is some Hawkesbury content. REMINDER - DR REX STUBBS OAM MEMORIAL ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP

Entries close on Saturday, 31 August 2013 for the Dr Rex Stubbs OAM Memorial Annual Scholarship. To enter, express why the history of the Hawkesbury is important to you, or why an aspect of Hawkesbury's history is of interest to you. This may be done in writing, by an artwork or in a digital presentation. Prize is 2 year membership to the Royal Australian Historical Society and attendance to the state conference. This will be held at Katoomba during 2-3 November 2013. The theme of the conference is "The Great Divide: Getting there from here", examining place and landscape; museum collections; new family history resources; and commemorating the past.
