NEW RESOURCES & HINTS

Searching QLD BDM indexes from John Norris

Searching for a death of Alexander Phillips, parents Jacob and Sarah. You can place parents names in appropriate boxes but if parents are not listed, your search would be a failure. Enter surname, then given name, and there are three date boxes actual date to search from, and date to search to. Putting in 01/01/1874 to 31/12/1890, and submitting search, two Alexander Phillips appear. The first one shown in 1874 number B8689 is the one we are seeking, breaking up the search year from 01/01/1874 to 30/06/1874 gives no result, putting in dates of 01/07/1874 to 01/09/1874 , gives a result of Alexander. Placing 15/08/1874 in the to box gives a result of Alexander. In the from box place 01/08/1874 and 15/08/1874 still in the to box, again a result. Breaking the dates down say 01/08/1874 to 10/08/1874 still gets a result. Dates from 01/08/1874 to 05/08/1874 no result, so death is between 06/08/1874 and 10/08/1874, so clear the from and to date boxes. In actual date you can now place say 06/08/1874, with no result, and working through when you place 09/08/1874, you will get a result. The other Alexander Phillips that we saw firstly if you put in actual date of 03/02/1887 he will appear
