CAPTAIN MICHAEL HOGAN (1766-1833) & THE "MARQUIS CORNWALLIS" TALK

Hawkesbury Historical Society invites interested persons to attend a special evening to meet Michael Styles from Washington Virginia USA who is going to talk about Captain Michael Hogan (1766-1833) on Wednesday 29th September 2004 at 7.30pm in the Tebbutt Room at Windsor Central Library. Captain Michael Hogan was the Captain of the "Marquis Cornwallis" which brought many Irish convicts and dissidents to the colony in 1796. Captain Hogan bought a 400 acre farm which he named "Cornwallis Farm" and left Mark Flood as overseer when he left the colony. Hogan led a most interesting life and his great great great grandson has published his life story, which will be available for sale for $40.

A reunion is to be held for the descendants of Joseph Wright (Scarborough 1788) & Ellen Gott (Neptune 1790) on the Sunday 28th November 2004 11am - 4pm at Maraylya Community Hall, Boundary Road, at Maraylya. Associated families include: Buckridge, Griggs, Holland, Allen, Maher, Huggins, Hobbs, Carr, Harcourt. Facilities available on site are Electric Barbecues, Children's Playground, Ceiling Fans, Hot Water, Microwave, Refrigerator, Clean Toilets, Tables & Chairs. BYO Food & Drink.
