charles was tried at Mayo county court on the 27/07/1843 for assualting Richard Stanton and robbing him of 3 pounds , sentance was 15 yrs transportation , to van diemans land , he left behind 2 brothers a sister and a widowed mother , he was the sole bread provider, he could neither read or write, 1st offence, used the surname Abington alias hanlon , to this day i am still not sure which is the real surname, he was transported on the Duke Of Richmond on the 21/09.1843 arrival in tasmania on the 2/01/1844, his police number is 11230 he was a ploughman/farmer, i have all his work history as a convict and his ticket of leave after 9 yrs and his conditional pardon after 12 yrs , i can supply in pdf form all info , cheers steve hanlon
