Biographies

William Alfred Martin was 26 years old and a semi literate Bootmaker when he was sentenced to transportation on 'THE STAG' to Western Australia for stealing a Jacket or Larceny. ((Reg #3276 Website 'ClaimaConvict' 'The Stag' records state stealing a jacket and British convict transportation registers 1787-1867 database compiled by State Library of Queensland from British Home Office say Larceny. )) His trial was held in Dorsetshire - Sessions Dorchester on 2 March 1853 and he was sentenced to 15 years in the colonies. He was single with no children. He was 5' 9" high and had brown hair and dark grey eyes and an oval face. He was of dark complexion and was decribed as middling stout and had an Anchor tattoo on his left arm. His religion is listed as Protestant. The Stag left England on 2nd February, 1855 and arrived in Fremantle in 1855. He was given Ticket of Leave to Albany in 20/10/1857.
