George was born about 1802 in London to William and Sarah Beavis (probably Case)

George was convicted and sentenced to death at the Old Bailey on the 25th of June 1823 for stealing eighteen yards of woolen cloth.

He arrived in Hobart on the Pheonix in 1824 and married Margaret Wright in Hobart on the 9th February 1836. They had three children, George, John and Margaret. George received a pardon in 1838.

In 1846 he moved his family to Maitland where his sister Maria lived.
