Biographies

John and an alleged accomplice (John McBride) were tried at Supreme Court Sydney on 4 November 1839 for murder of Ann Daley (or Dooley) on 24 July 1839 at East Maitland NSW.
Newspaper reports also indicate that Ann & John were cohabiting contrary to authorities of the day.
Part of the evidence being from the 8 year old daughter of Ann.
The was insufficient evidence against McBride and he was discharged whilst John was found guilty and sentenced to death.
