Patrick was tried and convicted at Meath County Ireland on 3 August 1830 of "highway robbery" and sentenced to life transportation

Patrick arrived Sydney aged 21 aboard Waterloo on 30 April 1831 with his Indent showing trade "ploughs"

Patrick was assigned to an Iron Gang at Newcastle during which time he and another convict George Baggaley (Mermaid 1830) attempted to murder Hugh McIntyre an Overseer.

Patrick Cassidy and George Baggaley were both convicted of the attempted murder and sentenced to death and hanged at Newcastle on 9 September 1835.
