Biographies

John Lynch (Dorothy 1820) & Edward McGuinness (Tyne 1819) & William Webb (Mangles 1820) & Patrick Geary (Guildford 1816) & Thomas Quinn (Minerva 1819) were among other convicts aboard Wellington on 10 December 1826 when a group of convicts seized control of the ship on way to Norfolk Island. Recaptured they were returned to Sydney and placed on Prison Hulk "Phoenix" waiting transfer to Norfolk Island. Ey escaped as a group from "Phoenix" in February 1827. John, Patrick Geary (Guildford) & Thomas Quinn (Minerva) were convicted on 1 June 1827 of robberies homes of Timothy Beard (publican) and Thomas Parnell (publican) and sentenced to death
