Biographies

Elizabeth Green did NOT marry Thomas Rendle.

First: Marriage Application Register – number INX-68-804 shows Elizabeth Green married in 1833 to Thomas Rendle (Rindle), 27yrs, a former convict (ship ‘Speke’) – the application did not go forward. Elizabeth was already married and this is noted on her Old Bailey Court conviction.

A Second: Application To Marry Elizabeth Green no: INX-68-13854: Charles Simpson, aged 37yrs. Ship ‘Albion (1)”, arrived 14 February 1827. The application register has a note reading “Green is stated to be married on arrival” and their application was denied. The Old Bailey Court records positively state she was married when convicted.
