William was born in Chester and was convicted at Chester Sessions on 25 August 1815 and sentenced to life transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard Atlas on 22 July 1816.

William was convicted on 30 January 1818 of highway robbery of a "boy" of G Blaxland and place him in fear and sentenced to death.
