Biographies

Convicted as 'Margaret Combs m.s Duff', transported and married 'Thomas Bailey' in Tasmania. By birth of first child he is using the name 'Henry Thomas Bayley'. This is the spelling of their surname they stick with on their return to the UK by 1860 and until her death in 1892. Probate shows her leaving estate of £1167, a relatively large sum.
Both sons born in Australia, as shown on UK census returns from 1861 onwards.
