Biographies

I have researched Masters Linn, but I am still unsure whether I connected to him, but it seems likely on available information.

Masters was baptised 24 Mar 1787 at St Nicholas Brighthelmston (as it was, now Brighton) Sussex to Masters Linn (1750-1830) and his wife Hannah nee Hazelgrove (1753-1814.

Sentenced 23 Mar 1816, arrived per Fame 1817, transferred to Newcastle (after stealing) 1821, and then in 1824, to Macquarie Harbour "to serve the remainder of his sentence" (after variously, escaping, stealing, drunk and disorderly etc).

On 7 Feb 1827 he received 15 lashes for fighting, on 15 Feb 1827, 50 lashes for falsely accusing another prisoner, and 25 for disrespectful language to the Commandant, and finally on 10 April 1827, 100 lashes for stealing from the dispensary of the hospital, a quantity of tea.

The last entry in his record is faint pencil "died at Macquarie Harbour".
