Biographies

I am not a descendant of Eliz. Green. I found this information when researching others and am passing it on here with the hope that her descendants will find it and claim her as theirs.

Elizabeth Green - ship = Earl of Liverpool.Born about 1810-1811 (19yrs old when tried).

For the full story go to https://www.oldbaileyonline.org/browse.jsp?div=t18300916-233 reference no: t18300916-233 (it’s already in the URL).

Criminal admission date: 13 September 1830. Newgate Prison.
Trial: Middlesex, London, England. Sentenced both to transportation for 14 yrs.

Crime: Elizabeth Green (aged 19yrs, married) and Norah Garver (aged 20yrs, spinster) Stealing a watch and 5 shillings the monies and property of James Anderson. Sentence: both guilty and both transportation for 14 yrs.

Ship: Earl of Liverpool. Sailed December 1830 & arrived NSW on 5th April 1831.

First: Marriage Application Register – number INX-68-804 shows Elizabeth Green married in 1833 to Thomas Rendle, a former convict (ship ‘Speke’) – the application did not go forward. Elizabeth was already married and this is noted on her Old Bailey Court conviction.

Second: Application To Marry no: INX-68-13854: Charles Simpson, aged 37yrs. Ship ‘Albion (1)”, arrived 14 February 1827. The application register has a note reading “Green is stated to be married on arrival” and their application was denied. We may imagine how Charles was feeling at the time. I have not yet found a marriage for Elizabeth in England but the Old Bailey Court records definitely state she was married when convicted.

Tracing Elizabeth’s life will not be easy.
