Biographies

James was born in 1802 and Christened at Necton, Norfolk, England on 17 June 1802
In 1830 he was transported from London to Van Diemen's Land

As a convict, James had to seek permission to marry & on 21 January 1837 he was granted permission to marry Ellen Miller who was also a convict (transported on the Edward in 1834). On 29 March 1837 they married at St John's Church, Lanceston. Ellen died from consumption on 22 August 1849

He then married Catherine Drummond in 1856 & they had 3 children

He passed away in 1865 in Victoria, Australia bequeathing his estate to wife Catherine Sandford
