Biographies

Mary Marney arrived 1806 in Sydney on Alexander 1 after sentence of 7 years for stealing material and tried at the Old Bailey, London. She was aged 14 years.
In 1807 she married James Lane, a Convict, Ship, Fortune arrived 1806,
at St Phillips Church Sydney .Children George, James, Thomas,John, James, Johanna, Jane. Mary received her Ticket of Leave 1811 and Cert. of Emancipation 1812.
Johanna and Jane were placed in care after Mary's death. Mary lived in Goulbourn St, Sydney and died in childbirth 1829. She was buried in the Devonshire Street, Burial Ground and her remains moved to the Pioneer Memorial Park, Botany Bay in 1901. Her son John married Sarah Boulton, child Emily Ann Lane, child Harriett Jones, child Henry Bartho and me, Judy Bartho.
Times must have been so hard for Mary, the first child James died only 7 years old but all of the other children became adults and married.
