Biographies

Born 1815@ in Birmingham Worcestershire England. Benjamin came to Australia as a convict on board the Lord Lyndock. Arriving in Tasmania 20th of August 1836. He was tried at Worcestershire assizes 23rd July 1835 and arrived in Tasmania 1836. The was a newspaper repost of his conviction giving his age as 18. He was sentenced to 7 years transportation for stealing, a silver watch and also a fowl hen. He was married on Elizabeth Wilson in Tasmania on the 26th September 1843 gave his age as 23. July 1848 a Magistrate wrote of Elizabeth Bingham was not of good character. 1847 Elizabeth ran away with a convict named Edward Williams.

Benjamin left Tasmania 19th of June 1848 bound for Melbourne on the Shamrock. From there moved to south west Victoria. He married again In Belfast now PortFairy at the catholic School house 1851 or 1852 to Rosina ( Rosa ) Serong. Benjamin and Rosa lived near Codrington and were both buried in Yambuk cemetery. Buried with them are their son Samual and Grand Daughter Frances White. Benjamin”s age on his headstone is 71. His age seems questionable too.
